Amazon Web Services has a new office complex. It is located on the territory of the former de Koepel prison in Haarlem, the Netherlands.

Here's What We Know

The penitentiary in the Netherlands has existed for more than 100 years. The prison was opened in 1901. Since 2016, after its closure, the domed building was used for a while as a shelter for migrants coming from Syria.

The cells for prisoners on the third floor of de Koepel Prison were converted into office space. One of its employees posted a video of the new complex on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

Amazon Web Services logos can be seen in the footage. The former prison cells have reportedly been given office furniture and can now be used as meeting rooms.

Some users are ironic about the fact that the Amazon Web Services office is located in a prison. This is due to a lot of reports that the company's warehouse employees have heavy workloads and low pay.
