TP-Link BE3600 portable router: Wi-Fi 7 in your pocket and VPN as a bonus
TP-Link has launched the TL-WR3602BE (aka BE3600), a pocket-sized WiFi 7 router that you can literally slip into your pocket - and never depend on weak hotel Wi-Fi again. It's the first portable WiFi 7 router capable of simultaneous streaming, downloading and online gaming without speed sags. The device allows you to connect up to 90 devices at once and makes it easy to use public Wi-Fi - you just need to log in once through the router.
Here's What We Know
The novelty supports speeds up to 3.6Gbps, has a 2.5G WAN-port and 1 Gigabit LAN-port, which allows you to use it not only on holidays, but also for serious work tasks, if you work remotely or travel often.
Operating modes of TL-WR3602BE: router, access point, USB-modem (via 3G/4G), USB-tethering from a smartphone, client or repeater. That is, you can create a network anywhere: at home, in a hotel, in a van, in the countryside - even in a cafe.
Another feature is support for WireGuard and OpenVPN VPN services, providing a secure connection 24/7. It doesn't matter if you're working from Bali, caught Wi-Fi at the railway station - all your data is protected.
It works without a built-in battery, but it's powered via USB-C, so it's easy to connect to a paverbank, laptop or charging pad.
And then there's the USB 3.0 port - you plug in an external drive, and all your files are privately accessible. In fact, it's your pocket NAS - personal cloud storage even without internet".
TP-Link TL-WR3602BE (BE3600) is not just a "router for tourists", but a multi-mode mobile communication centre: Wi-Fi 7, VPN, USB hosting, tethering support, power from a power bank - all in one case weighing less than 150 grams. And most importantly, it's really pocketable. What else does a digital nomad need?
The recommended price is around $140 - there's a reason it gives out Wi-Fi to 90 devices.
