Something went wrong: Indonesia blocked Elon Musk's X.com (formerly Twitter) - all because of porn and gambling
The other day Elon Musk unexpectedly decided to rename Twitter - now the social network is called X. But the rebranding didn't go very smoothly.
Details
The Indonesian government blocked X.com, Twitter's new domain. All because of the previous owners, who made it associated with porn and gambling.
Most likely, this will not be a major problem and the issue will be resolved soon. The social network team has already contacted the Indonesian government to clear up the misunderstandings. Nevertheless, 24 million users in Indonesia are unable to log into their accounts and browse the feed of the social network, which can be taken advantage of by Twitter's competitors.
In addition, this situation can be counted as an indicator of how unplanned the transition from Twitter to X was.
By the way, the situation with Indonesia may not be the only problem associated with the rebranding. The fact is that Meta, Microsoft and other companies already own trademarks on X, so they may well sue Ilon Musk and his social network.
