Apple, Disney, Sony Pictures and other companies have stopped all advertising on X (Twitter) because of Elon Musk and an anti-Semitic post
Social network X (former Twitter) and its owner Elon Musk this week got into a serious scandal. And it didn't take long for the consequences to sink in: major companies are stopping advertising on the social network.
Details
The other day, a user wrote on the social network that Jewish communities support "dialectical hatred of whites". Perhaps his post would have gone unnoticed, but Elon Musk commented on it, writing, "You spoke the plain truth".
And the very next day, Media Matters for America published a report claiming that ads for a number of companies in X, including Apple, IBM, Oracle and others, were shown alongside posts containing far-right conspiracy theories and anti-Semitic content.
Elon Musk, of course, denies everything. He even promised to sue Media Matters for America for fraudulently attacking the company. And X CEO Linda Yaccarino said that the social network fights discrimination and anti-Semitism.
However, IBM was among the first to stop advertising on the social network, and now Apple has joined in. The Axios report, citing anonymous sources, says Apple is "suspending all advertising" on X. There are no further details on how long this pause will last.
Also halting their advertising campaigns are film companies Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount, Sony Pictures and Lionsgate.
