U.S. blacklisted DJI and called it a "Chinese military company"
The United States continues its fight against the Chinese company DJI. The leading manufacturer of civilian drones has once again come under attack from the United States.
Here's What We Know
The Pentagon has updated the list of companies that have links to the Chinese government and are a threat to the national security of the United States. It includes DJI. The U.S. Defense Department called it a "Chinese military company".
U.S. defense said it will use all methods to oppose the merger of civilian and military firms to strengthen the People's Liberation Army of China, providing it with access to modern technology. Chinese drone manufacturer has already commented on the Pentagon's decision. DJI recalled that it has become the only company in its segment that opposes the military use of drones. To this end, it has suspended the supply of products in Ukraine and Russia.
DJI adds that it is not a military company in any country and that it has never been involved in the production or development of military equipment. The manufacturer stressed that it does not fall into any of the categories for blacklisting.
DJI had problems in 2020, when the U.S. authorities put it on the Black Economic List. After that, the Chinese company stopped doing business with American firms. How the new sanctions will affect DJI, it is difficult to guess, because despite all the restrictions, many federal agencies continue to use drones DJI.
