Bayraktar TB3 SIHA gets TEI PD170 turbo-diesel aircraft engines up to 164 kW

At SAHA EXPO 2022, the Turkish company TEI announced the delivery of PD170 turbo diesel engines for the Bayraktar TB3 SIHA drone.

According to the manufacturer, the TEI PD170 is the best turbodiesel aircraft engine of its segment in the world. It is focused on high-altitude flights and will allow the drone to reach an altitude of more than 9 km. The engines have already been handed over to Baykar, which is integrating them into new drones.

The TEI PD170 is used in the TAI Aksungur drone, which has a limit of more than 12 km and can remain in the air for up to 49 hours. The turbodiesel engine has an output of 126 to 164 kW (170 to 220 horsepower).

As for the Bayraktar TB3 SIHA, the first flight of the drone will take place before the end of 2022. The drone will be used by the Turkish Navy. It will be able to take off and land using short runways, particularly aboard the amphibious assault ship TCG Anadolu.
