Greek state-owned Hellenic Defence Systems plans to begin local production of long-range barrage munitions. The South African firm Paramount Group will assist.

Here's What We Know

The unmanned aerial vehicle is called IRIX. It will be the first system of its kind to be manufactured in Greece. The kamikaze drone is based on Paramount's N-Raven drone.

The capabilities of the new bomber munition have not yet been specified. Paramount Group describes the new development as a cost-effective system capable of reconnaissance and engaging targets in enemy territory.

N-Raven can barrage for 2-4.5 hours and has a range of up to 100km. The maximum payload weight is over 13 kg. It is possible that IRIX will have the same parameters or at least similar.

Paramount Group is working on a modification of the N-Raven that will be able to operate as part of a swarm of drones. It is now at an advanced stage of development, with production beginning in the second half of next year.
