China has significantly improved the Scorpion A drone - now it can carry more missiles and bombs
The Chinese defence industry continues to develop the drone segment. State-run broadcaster CCTV recently revealed improvements to the Scorpion A strike drone.
Here's What We Know
The key innovation has been the increase in suspension points from four to seven units. And three of them can be fitted with two or three munitions. A CCTV story states that the drone has undergone flight tests.
The Scorpion A can carry high-precision guided bombs LS-6-50 and FT-9, GB-25A laser-guided bombs and YZ-102A anti-personnel bombs. As for missiles, the arsenal includes TS20, TL-2, anti-tank Blue Arrow 11A and Blu Arrow 7.
The drone has a maximum take-off weight of 450kg. The drone is capable of flying for 40 hours and climbing to an altitude of up to 10km. Scorpion A has flight speed of 380km/h and has a cruising range of 8000km.
