Here's What We Know
Recently, a video appeared on social media showing Ukrainian military personnel cutting a 155mm M483A1 artillery shell using an ordinary angle grinder. The video was filmed by soldiers of the company of unmanned aerial systems "AHILLES" of the 92nd separate mechanised brigade.
The video shows soldiers first sawing off the front of the M483A1 projectile before extracting the M42 and M46 submunitions from it. It should be noted that the M483A1 has 64 M42 submunitions and 24 M46 submunitions.
Footage from the video also shows the process of turning submunitions into drone bombs.
