Ukraine begins testing a new reconnaissance UAV Gekata, it will be able to stay in the air for up to 12 hours and detect targets at a distance of up to 450 km
Infozahyst is preparing to test its new development - reconnaissance drone Gekata.
Here's What We Know
The information was shared by Militarnyi. Gekata is based on the PD-2 unmanned system. The novelty boasts a complex of radio-technical reconnaissance. Due to the high position of the antenna during flight, the horizon of signal reception is expanded. This makes it possible to detect sources of electromagnetic radiation at distances of up to 450 kilometres.
The complex is capable of detecting and recognising signals of enemy assets. It automatically compares the detected signal with the signature database and informs the operator whether it is the signal of the radar station of Buk, Osa, S-300 or MiG-31 fighter aircraft. The UAV also boasts a passive mode of operation for the onboard radio reconnaissance station. This allows the UAV to operate beyond the range of enemy air defence systems. The drone has a vertical take-off system. It can stay in the air for up to 12 hours and fly up to 1000 kilometres.
When We Can Expect It
If the tests are successful, the production of Gekata could begin as early as next year.
