Turkish Bayraktar TB2 attack drones spotted at Russian mercenary Wagner military base in Mali
Bayraktar TB2 drones were spotted in Mali at the base of the private military company Wagner. The images were published by the publication The Insider.
Here's What We Know
The photo shows at least three Turkish-made drones. Baykar drones are positioned on the territory of the airport in Mali, which is a military base of PMC "Wagner" in the African country.
Talks about Russia receiving Bayraktar TB2 were hastened to stop by a military analyst from France with the nickname @casusbelli. He said the photo shows the attack drones, which Malian authorities bought last year, making the country the fifth Bayraktar operator in West Africa.
The Russian defence ministry says the military base has come under Russian control. It is possible that Bayraktar TB2s have been seized. However, it is unclear whether the Russians can directly use Turkish drones without Malian operators.
