Israel Aerospace Industries has unveiled the Rotem Alpha kamikaze drone that can destroy tanks, missiles and launchers

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has added a drone capable of destroying tanks to its range. The quadrocopter is called Rotem Alpha.

IAI presented the new drone at the DSEI-2023 exhibition in the UK. It is a kamikaze drone with vertical takeoff and landing. The detailed specifications of the Rotem Alpha are not yet known, but IAI says it is capable of destroying enemy tanks.

The drone's strength is its great endurance. The Israeli quadrocopter can fly for 1 hour. Another feature is the ability to hover in the air and conduct reconnaissance regardless of weather conditions.

There is no information about speed yet. The maximum flight altitude is more than 240 metres. Rotem Alpha can carry a shaped-charge or fragmentation warhead. The weight of the warhead is not specified, but the whole system weighs 28kg.

In addition to tanks, the targets of the kamikaze quadrocopter are missiles, launchers and artillery systems. A set of advanced sensors allows the drone to autonomously find targets to attack. Rotem Alpha takes less than two minutes to deploy.
