Many manufacturers already have foldable smartphones, but Apple is still out of business. According to new data, the company will introduce its first foldable gadget in 2024. Although the source of this information, oddly enough, was Apple's competitor, Samsung.

Here's What We Know

Samsung Mobile Experience (MX) held a meeting with component suppliers to discuss several interesting topics, including one related to its foldable phone strategy. TheElec report detailed that Samsung estimates a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of up to 80% for its foldable devices through 2025.

Samsung MX representatives expect Apple to release its first foldable device in 2024. But it won't be a smartphone, they predict, but a laptop and tablet. Why is unclear. Incidentally, these claims are consistent with a previous CCS Insight report.

Also, Samsung says that South Korean iPhone users in their 20s and 30s are switching to Samsung foldable phones at a much higher rate than before, reportedly 3 to 4 times higher than in previous years.

Samsung also believes that 90% of current foldable phone users will choose a foldable gadget as their next device.
