Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 will be a stripped-down version of the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip - the Dimensity 8200 is fast losing relevance
The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 processor will be unveiled next week. The new mid-range chip played with muscle in the Geekbench 5 benchmark.
Here's What We Know
On March 6, the smartphone with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 chip was tested in a benchmark. It scored 1,232 points in the Single-Core test and 4,095 points in the Multi-Core test. The Geekbench 5 database indicates that the processor has three 2.92GHz (x1), 2.5GHz (x2) and 1.8GHz (x4) core clusters.
The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 performs on par with the Dimensity 9000 and a stripped-down version of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with a peak frequency of 3GHz. The highly popular Dimensity 8200 chip, on the other hand, is gaining 20% in Single-Core and about 10% less in Multi-Core.
The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 will be officially launched on March 17, 2023. There is a chance that the first smartphones with the new Qualcomm processor could appear before the end of this month.
