Face ID under-panel will appear on iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max at least - not until 2025
The iPhone 15 Pro smartphone was once credited with an under panel Face ID system, but analyst Ross Young is confident that the technology won't appear in the next few years.
Here's What We Know
Until recently, Young himself said that Apple would release its first iPhone with Face ID under the display in 2024. But now he says that plans have been pushed back to at least 2025. This is due to problems with the sensor.
Yang's revised timeline contradicts a report by Korean publication The Elec, which claims that Face ID under-panel will be launched on the iPhone 16 Pro next year. Yang tends to be accurate, so the technology is likely to arrive in at least two years.
Thus, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max could be the first smartphones with an under-screen system. The analyst also believes that there will still be a cutout in the display for the front-facing camera.
