Ming-Chi Kuo: Apple postponed mass production of AR/VR helmet again, novelty may not be shown at WWDC 2023
We've written on more than one occasion that Apple has debugged mass production of an AR/VR helmet. It looks like it's happened again.
Here's What We Know
According to Chinese analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company has again postponed the start of production of the device. It is likely to start in the middle or end of the third quarter of this year. Apple may produce 200,000 or 300,000 devices in total, though it originally intended to produce around 500,000. Kuo also doesn't rule out that the company will cancel the reveal of the helmet at the WWDC 2023 conference in early June.
Flashback
Apple has been working on an AR/VR helmet for over 3 years now. According to rumours and leaks, the device will get a Sony Micro-OLED screen, lots of sensors, as well as support for Apple's proprietary Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade services. The gadget will run on the xrOS operating system and will cost $3000-4000.
