vivo X Flip - competitor for Samsung Galaxy Flip 4 with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, 50MP camera and price from $875
vivo has finally unveiled its first smartphone in a vertical clamshell form factor. The model is called the vivo X Flip. It will compete with Samsung Galaxy Flip 4, OPPO N2 Flip and Huawei P50 Pocket.
Here's What We Know
The smartphone features a main Full HD+ display with a frame refresh rate of 1-120Hz and a 6.74" diagonal. On the back, an additional 3" matrix is installed. It has a resolution of 682 x 422 pixels and a frame rate of 60Hz.
According to the manufacturer, the vivo X Flip's main screen can lock into several half-open positions. The new hinge is rated for half a million folding and unfolding cycles, which should last for several years. An optional display mounted on the back of the cover can be used for navigation, video and social networking.
At the heart of the vivo X Flip is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. The chip is paired with 12GB of RAM. The storage has a capacity of 256GB or 512GB depending on the modification. The battery capacity was 4,400 mAh, which is a record for a smartphone in this form factor.
The novelty has a main camera with 50 MP resolution and optical image stabilisation. It is based on a Sony IMX866V 1/1.56" optical sensor and supports 4K video shooting. The resolution of the ultra-wide-angle module (Sony IMX663) is 12 MP and the front camera is 32 MP.
The vivo X Flip has NFC chip, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C, GPS and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The fast charging power was 44W. The smartphone has overall dimensions of 166.42 x 75.25 x 8.19 mm open and 86.4 x 75.2 x 16.62 mm closed. The device weighs around 200g.
Price & When We Can Expect It
The manufacturer's recommended price for the vivo X Flip was $875 and $975 depending on the modification. The smartphone will hit the market on April 28, 2023 in black, gold and purple body colours. The model will be available with OriginOS 3 firmware based on Android 13 operating system.
