vivo X Fold 2 - Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, two 120Hz AMOLED E6 screens, five cameras and 120W charging for $1310
vivo has announced its third smartphone in the notebook form factor. The X Fold and X Fold+ are joined by the next-generation flagship X Fold 2.
Here's What We Know
The smartphone features two AMOLED E6 displays with 1-120Hz refresh rates and Dolby Vision support. The inner panel has an 8.03" diagonal, a 4-to-3.55 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2160 x 1916 pixels. The external screen measures 6.53" diagonally and has a resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels, i.e. Full HD+ at an aspect ratio of 21 to 9.
The vivo X Fold 2 is slightly cheaper than the X Fold+, but it is unable to offer users a periscopic telephoto lens. The main camera includes a 50 MP (Sony IMX866 + OIS) and 12 MP (Sony IMX663) main and ultra-wide-angle modules respectively.
The portrait module is equipped with a Sony IMX663 sensor. The optical zoom is 2x. The smartphone can shoot video in 4K UHD at 60 FPS and in 8K at 30 FPS. The resolution of the two front-facing cameras is 16 MP each (Hynix Hi1634Q, f/2.45).
The next-generation flagship flip features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Like the X Flip introduced today, our hero is also available in 256GB and 512GB storage variants. The RAM capacity is 12GB in both cases. However, the more modern memory standards - UFS 4.0 and LPDDR5X - are worth noting.
The vivo X Fold 2 gets a 4,800mAh battery. The wired charging power was 120W and the wireless charging power was 50W. The arsenal includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS, USB-C, stereo speakers and two fingerprint scanners. The new hinge provides over 400,000 smartphone opening and closing cycles.
Price & When We Can Expect It
The vivo X Fold 2 has been priced at $1310 and $1455 depending on the modification. The model will hit the market with Android 13 and OriginOS 3 shell. You can buy the smartphone in black, blue and red body colours.
