Valve has shared some interesting news. The company has released the beta version of Steam VR 2.0.

Here's What We Know

Valve said that this is the first step towards bringing all the features and details of Steam to virtual reality.

Beta participants should notice several new changes:

  • Updated keyboard with support for new languages, emojis, and themes
  • Integration of Steam text and voice chat
  • An improved store that puts new and popular VR releases at the top of the list
  • Most of the current Steam and Steam Deck features are now part of SteamVR
  • Fixes to many bugs

Valve also said that this is only the beginning of SteamVR 2.0, and more information is to be expected in the coming weeks and months.

To become a member of the beta, you need to read the instructions at this link.

The Verge also wrote that the update has appeared now for a reason. Valve is working on a new VR headset codenamed Deckard. The reasoning is that an unknown Valve device has received certification in South Korea. Although the company already has Valve Index, its own set with a helmet and controllers, Valve may present an updated version in the near future. Although it is worth noting that the company does not comment on this.
