The Ukrainian Armed Forces published a video of the new Bastion-01 MLRS, which is a Ukrainian modernization of the Russian Grad
The Armed Forces of Ukraine showed the domestic Bastion-01 multiple rocket launcher system in all its glory.
What we know
The Bastion-01 MLRS is a Ukrainian modernization of the Russian BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher developed in 2021. A video shows it firing two dozen rockets in about 10 seconds.
The Bastion-01 has several improvements over its Russian counterpart. The crew is able to point the MLRS, fire and reload the launcher in automatic mode. Navigation, communication, leveling and platform stabilization systems have also been added.
MLRS Bastion-01 has 40 guides and uses 122 mm caliber rockets. The unit is built on the basis of the KrAZ-6322RA chassis with a 6x6 wheel formula. Engine power is 400HP, the range is 500 km, and the maximum speed on the highway is 85 km/h.
