The Armed Forces of Ukraine showed the RM-70 Vampire - an upgraded MLRS costing $165,000, which fires 40 rockets in 20 seconds
HIMARS is not the only foreign MLRS in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Another multiple launch rocket system coming from abroad is RM-70 Vampire.
What is known
Vampire is a modernized version of RM-70 MLRS with an engine Tatra T3C V8 270 horsepower. The system is based on the chassis Tatra-815-7. Maximum speed is 90 km/h and range is up to 1000 km.
RM-70 Vampire fires 40 122 mm high-explosive shells in 20 seconds. The range of fire is 20 km. One of the features of the multiple launch rocket system is a fast reload time of 2 minutes.
The system includes a launcher, missiles, fire control system and a transport-loading vehicle. The artillery part is located in the stern, and in the front there is a cabin with the crew. An optional 7.62 mm machine gun can be mounted on the roof. The cost of one RM-70 Vampire is about $165,000. Ukraine has received more than 10 multiple rocket launchers from the Czech Republic.
