U.S. senators call for sending long-range missiles to Ukraine for HIMARS
on July 7, Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal, after meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, expressed support for providing Ukraine with long-range missiles for HIMARS.
What we know
Blumenthal stated his full support for the supply of long-range missiles for multiple rocket launchers, as well as air defense systems and anti-ship missiles Harpoon. He stressed that a condition for the transfer of long-range missiles is that they will not be used to attack Russian territory.
Graham also said he supported the immediate transfer of weapons to Ukraine. According to him, the United States have an opportunity to turn the tide of the war in favor of Ukraine within the next 60 days.
As for the long-range missiles, here we are talking primarily about MGM-140 of 610 mm caliber. The range is 310 km. At the same time, only one such missile can be used in the container HIMARS instead of six medium-range missiles, with which the Ukrainian Armed Forces are now bombing Russian ammunition depots.
