What we know
The information was shared by Ismail Demir, head of the Turkish Defense Industry Authority. With ŞAHİN, Turkish soldiers will be able to destroy small unmanned aerial vehicles (mini/mikro UAVs).
According to Mr Demir, ŞAHİN can be used to protect critical facilities, border security and air defense. The unit is based on a towable trailer. It has a modular design and is a 40mm grenade launcher with programmable ammunition from the Turkish company ASELSAN. The launcher can automatically track the target and is guided by radar. The range of the ŞAHİN is 700 meters.
