Politico, citing an anonymous source "familiar with the discussions," reports that the U.S. plans to supply Excalibur artillery ammunition to Ukraine.

When?

According to the journalists, the ammunition will be given to Ukraine "in the future," but this type of weapons will not be part of the recently announced $775 million military aid package.

"The munitions will give the Ukrainians a new high-precision weapon to hit fortified Russian positions and command posts," Politico notes.

As a reminder, Excalibur is a high-precision guided projectile with extended range, which is compatible with such artillery guns as the 155-mm British M777 howitzer, the Swedish 155-mm Archer self-propelled artillery and the German PzH 2000. It is guided by GPS and can hit targets up to 60 km away.

And the new $775 million military aid package will include ammunition for HIMARS, for the first time ScanEagle UAVs, high-speed anti-radar missiles HARM, Javelins, etc.
