The British Ministry of Defense announces the transfer of underwater drones to Ukraine.

Details

These are mine-hunting drones that will help Ukraine clear the coastline. They are lightweight, designed for use in shallow coastal conditions and work effectively at depths of up to 100 m to detect, locate and identify mines using a set of sensors.

The U.K. will hand over a total of six of these drones: three will be provided from stock, and three more will be purchased from manufacturers.

"This vital equipment and training will help Ukraine make its waters safe, help the flow of grain to the rest of the world and support the Ukrainian Armed Forces in their quest to protect their coastline and ports," said Defense Secretary Ben Wallace.

In addition, the Ukrainian military will be trained in the use of such devices. The training is being conducted by the Royal Navy and U.S. partners. In particular, the Royal Navy's Diving & Threat Exploitation team will conduct a three-week training course together with the US Navy's 6th Fleet.
