In the war against russia, every Ukrainian tries to help what he or she does best. Hackers are also fighting their own battle against the Russian army.
Here's What We Know
In six months, Ukrainian hackers have carried out several cyber attacks on Russian systems. They hacked into websites, tapped into surveillance cameras and extracted important information. One local victory was reported by the Financial Times.
Thanks to the hacker group Hackyourmom, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to destroy one of the Russian military bases on the territory of temporarily occupied Melitopil in Zaporizhzhia region. The cyber specialists communicated with the Russian military using fake accounts of beautiful women.
They entered into correspondence with the soldiers and asked them to send their pictures. The occupiers, without a second thought, took pictures of themselves against the backdrop of military facilities and happily shared the pictures in an attempt to impress the women on social media.
After receiving the photos, the specialists only had to find out the coordinates of the base and get them into the right hands. As one member of the Hackyourmom group says, a few days later he learned on TV that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had destroyed the military base.
