Recently we told that the Ukrainian Armed Forces made copies of HIMARS from wood and forced the Russians to spend 10 expensive cruise missiles to destroy fake targets. Now there is information about another decoy.

Here's What We Know

We are talking about a wooden anti-aircraft missile system NASAMS. The photo of the fake target was published in Twitter. The installation was photographed in the Mykholaiv region. Up close you can see that the SAM is not real, but from the air it's impossible to distinguish the real target from the fake one.

By the way, according to the Pentagon's latest statements, there are no NASAMS SAMs in Ukraine right now. The first batch of the systems should arrive to us before the end of fall.

Flashback

NASAMS is a man-portable SAM system for destroying maneuvering targets at low and medium altitudes. The system was developed in the early 1990s by the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defense with the participation of the American company Raytheon. The SAM entered service with the Norwegian Armed Forces in 1994. The range of AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles is 20-40 km and maximum altitude is 20 km. The cost of one such battery is about $65 million.
