The AFU seized Russia's most powerful non-nuclear weapon, the TOS-1A Solntsepyok, with full ammunition
The heavy flamethrower system "Solntsepyok" has become one of the most interesting trophies of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The TOS-1A was captured with full ammunition, so the Russian occupiers may soon receive a "hello" from their own weapons.
Here's What We Know
The TOS-1A "Solntsepyok" was captured during a counterattack. This is reported by the Center for Strategic Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Telegram, publishing a video of the flamethrower system. The Russians left it because of the lack of fuel in the tanks. Why they decided not to destroy the system remains a mystery.
The Russian Defense Ministry calls the heavy flamethrower system TOS-1A Solntsepyok the most powerful non-nuclear weapon in the arsenal of the Russian Armed Forces and, of course, it has no analogues in the world. It is designed to eliminate manpower, destroy vehicles and armored vehicles, and destroy buildings.
The TOS-1A Solntsepyok is based on the T-72 tank with a diesel engine that delivers a maximum speed of 65 km/h. Cruise range is 550 km. The launcher has 24 rails for 220 rounds. The maximum firing range is 6 km, and the engagement area is 40,000 square meters.
