Greece begins sending BMP-1A1 Ost infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine

Ukraine will soon receive BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles from Greece. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba.

Here's What We Know

Greece will send armored vehicles within the framework of a circular exchange. Instead of BMP-1s it will receive German Marder combat vehicles. The first six units arrived in Greece on 17 October. In all, Germany will send 40 infantry fighting vehicles.

The Greek BMP-1 has the official name BMP-1A1 Ost and is a modification of the Soviet BMP-1P. Germany sold them to Greece after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
