Recently, Germany finally handed over a state-of-the-art IRIS-T air defense system to Ukraine. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal spoke about its first successes in an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

Here's What We Know

According to the Ukrainian Prime Minister, IRIS-T has been operating in Ukraine for a week and has already managed to save many lives. "Germany has already supplied us with the IRIS-T system. It has been in use for a week and has already saved many, many lives, especially in the Kyiv region. Unfortunately, we only have one such system at the moment, and we are looking forward to the next one. I hope it will be in November," noted Shmygal.

Ukraine also needs ammunition for the IRIS-T: the ones that came with the system have shot down a significant number of Russian missiles, and a new batch is just being produced.

When asked when the weapons are needed before it is too late, the prime minister replied, "It's literally a matter of days. The Russians use 20 to 30 Iranian kamikaze drones against us every day. They are hard to shoot down. That's why we ask our partners for special jammers... There are devices that can fight these Iranian drones. We know who has them, and we ask our partners."
