The United Kingdom has handed over Brimstone second-generation missiles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Here's What We Know

The Brimstone is a self-propelled air-to-ground missile developed by Europe's Matra BAE Dynamics Alenia (MBDA) specifically for the British Army. Previously, the UK transferred only first-generation missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Brimstone 1 is 1.8 meters long, has a diameter of 18 cm, and a payload weight of 6.3 kg. The missile can hit enemy targets at a distance of up to 20 km. Brimstone 2 appeared in 2010. The development was carried out within the framework of the SPEAR program.

The second generation missile is equipped with a new seeker head and improved software. At the same time, the launch range was increased fourfold - up to 80 km.
