US prepares record $10bn aid package for Ukraine
Next week the United States is due to officially announce a new aid package for Ukraine. It will be a record-breaking one.
Here's What We Know
The next package will coincide with the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion. It will include military aid and budget support and will amount to $10 billion, The Washington Post has reported, citing its own sources. The USA will also impose new sanctions against the aggressor country.
According to the newspaper, the military actions in the east of Ukraine have slowed down, and neither side has an advantage. US President Joe Biden's administration believes that a critical moment will come in the spring due to a new offensive by the Russian army and a counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Against this background, US Vice-President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken will attend the Munich Security Conference. It will be held from 17 to 19 February. At the same time, Joe Biden will travel to Poland. And today, February 14, there will be another Ramstein meeting in Brussels, where the issue of sending air forces to Ukraine may be discussed.
