Ukraine's armed forces have been using consumer drones since the start of the full-scale invasion. But not just to correct fire.

Here's What We Know

We write little about the Ukrainian Defence Forces' use of civilian drones to bombard enemy positions at the front. But the video of the 59th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade named after Yakov Gandzyuk deserves attention.

Usually consumer quadcopters are used to correct fire. For example, last summer a DJI Mavic 3 helped destroy an ammunition depot and a Tiger armoured vehicle, while a DJI Mavic 2 pointed an M777 howitzer at a Pantsyr-S1 surface-to-air missile system, three armoured personnel carriers, a headquarters, and a tank.

Soldiers of a motorised infantry brigade were able to destroy a BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher in the Donetsk region using a DJI Mavic quadcopter. Exactly which drone was used was not specified. The most common is the Mavic 3.
