Ukrainian Armed Forces show video of combat use of Hydra high-precision guided missiles with APKWS
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are using precision guided missiles from BAE Systems on the frontline. The 37th Marine Brigade has published a video of the combat application of the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) laser guided missiles.
Here's What We Know
The video shows the elimination of an enemy target that is inside a house. The distance from which the strike was made is not specified. The APKWS guided missile was launched from a launcher mounted on the chassis of an armoured HMMWV.
The APKWS, developed by BAE Systems, turns a 70mm Hydra rocket into a precision guided munition by using a laser guidance system. This development is used in the Vehicle-Agnostic Modular Palletized ISR Rocket Equipment (VAMPIRE).
VAMPIRE system is part of one of the US military aid packages for Ukraine. It will make it possible to more effectively resist Iranian kamikaze drones Shahed-136.
