Sweden has once again announced that it will not provide the Ukrainian Air Force with JAS 39 Gripen fighters. This statement was made the previous day by Defence Minister Pål Jonson.
Here's What We Know
The defence chief noted that Sweden is focused on helping the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Scandinavian country trains Ukrainian servicemen and deals with the maintenance of weapons, which have been transferred to Ukraine.
However, Sweden does not have extra JAS 39 Gripen aircraft, which could strengthen the Ukrainian Air Force. According to Military Balance 2022, the Swedish Air Force has six fighter squadrons, each with 16 Gripen aircraft. The percentage of combat-ready aircraft is not fighter aircraft.
