CAESAR howitzer and FlyEye drone quickly destroy Russian SA-19 Grison surface-to-air missile system

The Russian Tunguska surface-to-air missile system (NATO codification SA-19 Grison) fell victim to a French CAESAR self-propelled artillery system. The destruction was assisted by a FlyEye drone.

Here's What We Know

Aerial reconnaissance using a Polish FlyEye drone obtained the coordinates of the anti-aircraft gun-missile system. When the SA-19 Grison stopped, it was destroyed with a CAESAR howitzer.

SA-19 Grison complex went into production in 1982. It is designed to provide protection against low-flying aircraft, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles. For this purpose, the system is equipped with two 2A38 30 mm cannons and 9M311 anti-aircraft guided missiles.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces received several dozen CAESAR self-propelled artillery systems in 2022 and 2023. The latest batch arrived from Denmark. The French howitzer has a wheeled chassis and is highly mobile. The SA-19 Grison took a couple of minutes to destroy.

As for FlyEye, it is an unmanned aerial vehicle of the Polish company WB Electronics. It is considered one of the best reconnaissance-level drones in service with NATO countries. The drone is capable of speeds up to 160 km/h and can conduct reconnaissance from an altitude of 4 km. It has a maximum range of 50km.
