Defence Forces show Norwegian NM189 Ingeniørpanservogn vehicles based on the Leopard 1 tank for the first time in Ukraine
The Armed Forces have shown the NM189 Ingeniørpanservogn engineering vehicles in Ukraine for the first time. They were received from Norway. In the photo above you can see the vehicles during the training of Ukrainian soldiers in Poland.
Here's What We Know
The NM189 Ingeniørpanservogn is an engineer vehicle based on the German Leopard 1 tank and designed to prepare defensive positions, clear roads and create gaps in enemy defences.
The vehicle was purpose-built at the end of the last century for the Norwegian Armed Forces. They ordered 22 units of NM189 Ingeniørpanservogn, which were produced and delivered by 2021. The vehicle's arsenal includes smoke grenades and a 12.7 mm machine gun.
Norway shipped three NM189 Ingeniørpanservogn to Ukraine in March this year. Along with the engineer vehicles, the Armed Forces received Leopard 2A4NO tanks.
