The Russian army makes extensive use of aviation. On May 25, 2023, during an attempted air strike, Russia lost two Su-25 aircraft near the town of Melitopol in southern Ukraine.

One of the attack aircraft was destroyed by a fighter with the alias "Zaporizhzhya Avenger". For him, the Su-25 was the seventh target. It is worth noting that both planes were shot down using a portable anti-aircraft missile system.
