Ukrainian Armed Forces show rare video of SS-21 Scarab B tactical missile system
The Ukrainian Armed Forces use the Tochka-U tactical missile system (NATO classification: SS-21 Scarab B). Unfortunately, videos of combat operations do not appear as often as one would like.
Here's What We Know
The new video shows the launch of the SS-21 Scarab B complex's solid-propellant missile and a few seconds of the start of flight. The time and location are not specified.
The Tochka tactical missile system (NATO classification: SS-21 Scarab A) was fielded in the mid-1970s, some seven years after development began. In 1984, specialists began work on an upgraded version called SS-21 Scarab B.
The complex can hit targets at a distance of 15-120 km. The missile has a launch weight of over 2 tonnes and is capable of reaching speeds of over 1000 m/sec. The combat vehicle with the launcher can accelerate up to 60 km/h on the highway and has a range of 650 km.
