Ukraine to receive more German IRIS-T systems: additional supply contracts signed

Since last autumn, the Armed Forces have been using German IRIS-T air defence systems to protect Ukrainian cities. There are only a few so far, but Ukraine will soon receive more anti-aircraft missile systems.

Here's What We Know

Ukraine's ambassador to Germany, Oleksii Makeiev, said on Twitter that additional contracts for the supply of these systems had been signed in Überlingen. He unfortunately did not provide details, but posted selfies with IRIS-T SAMs in the background.

"And these IRIS-T SLM/SLS launchers/missiles will soon be in Ukraine," the ambassador wrote.

The SLS version is a short-range air defence system. It has an air threat interception range of up to 12 km and a maximum altitude of 8 km.
