May 29 began for the people of Ukraine with another massive strike by the Russian Federation. As usual, Iranian-made kamikaze drones flew first from the north and south, followed by strategic cruise missiles.
Here's What We Know
The Ukrainian Air Force was able to shoot down 29 of about 35 kamikaze drones Shahed-131 and Shahed-136. Judging by the number on the tail of the drone, Russia has already launched more than 1,000 such drones since 2022.
Nine Tu-95MS aircraft have been used to launch strategic cruise missiles Kh-101 and Kh-555. Interestingly, the bombers are based near the Finnish border, but they have to fly to the Caspian Sea area to strike. One way flight takes approximately 5 hours.
In total, the Ukrainian Air Force managed to shoot down 37 of about 40 strategic cruise missiles. One operational-level drone was also destroyed. The missile and drone fire lasted for about 5 hours.
