Until February 24, 2022, the FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missile systems were the main weapon of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Since then, the Ukrainian army has received M142 HIMARS and M270 MLRS missile systems, a number of self-propelled howitzers, including the PzH 2000, and modern air defence systems. But the Javelin are not going anywhere.
Here's What We Know
An anti-tank missile system was recently used to destroy a Russian T-80 tank. The missile's arrival at the fighting vehicle can be seen in the video below. After the Javelin hit, the tank spectacularly exploded.
The T-80 is a Soviet tank that appeared almost 50 years ago. Since then, several modifications of the fighting vehicle have been produced, including the 2018 T-80BVM and newer. According to Oryx analysts, the Russian army has lost around 500 different versions of the T-80 since February 24, 2022.
