First video of Ukrainian Armed Forces combat use of Zuzana 2 howitzer worth $7.6m published
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have been using the Slovak Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzer since 2022. Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Butusov published a video of the combat use of the artillery system.
Here's What We Know
The Ukrainian Defence Forces received eight Zuzana 2 howitzers from Slovakia. The latter was delivered in early 2023, after which Germany announced that it would provide 16 artillery pieces together with Norway and Denmark.
In January, Slovak Defence Minister Jarolsav Nad' said that Ukraine had made a request for 11 more howitzers. The cost of one is approximately $7.6 million.
There is almost no video of the Zuzana 2 being used by the Ukrainian military, so the new video can be considered a rarity. Previously we saw a Slovak howitzer in a training exercise. The new video demonstrates the combat work on the frontline.
The Zuzana 2 is equipped with a 155mm cannon and two machine guns (7.62mm and 12.7mm). Maximum firing range is 41 km. The Tatra 8x8 is used as the chassis. It has a range of over 700 km and can reach speeds of up to 80 km/h.
