Here's What We Know
A video of the upgraded 2S22 Bogdana artillery unit has appeared on social media. The howitzer was used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but was temporarily recalled from the front and sent to train cadets.
Earlier this year, Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov announced the start of serial production of the 2S22 Bogdana. The upgraded version of the howitzer has a new chassis with an armoured driver's cab. Externally the combat vehicle looks like MAZ-6317.
In the future, the artillery unit will be upgraded. In particular, at the international exhibition IDEX-2023 in Abu-Dhabi, the 2S22 Bogdan project based on the Czech truck Tatra T815 with 8x8 wheel configuration was presented.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces started using the howitzer in spring 2022. There is information that it took part in the liberation of Snake Island in the summer of the same year.
