F-16 Fighting Falcon aircrafts began patrolling in Slovak airspace
On September 1, Poland began patrolling in the airspace of Slovakia, which refused to use Soviet MiG-29 aircraft.
Here's What We Know
Slovakia gave up its old fighters, instead of which it should receive 14 new American F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft. These are the fighters of the Polish Air Force that are now patrolling the Slovak airspace. And the MiG-29s, which cost $299 million, may be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Defense Minister Jaroslav Nad' announced this, but there are no concrete agreements between the states yet.
The Polish Defense Ministry noted that the F-16 Fighting Falcon will respond to air threats in the skies over Slovakia. The head of the ministry, Mariusz Blaszczak, stressed that Poland will strengthen the defense capabilities of the neighboring country in the face of Russian aggression against Ukraine. In addition, Czech military aviation will also patrol Slovakia's airspace.
