Poland buys 48 Korean FA-50 fighters, contract worth $3,000,000,000

Poland has signed a contract with Korea Aerospace Industries for the purchase of FA-50 fighters.

Here's What We Know

This was announced by Krzysztof Płatek, head of Armament Agency of Polish Ministry of Defense. The question is about 12 planes FA-50 and 36 FA-50PL (modification due to Polish requirements). The cost of the first fighters is $700,000,000. Their deliveries are to start in 2023.

The FA-50PLs will cost $2,300,000,000. Their deliveries are scheduled for 2025-2028.

Flashback

The FA-50 is a two-seat supersonic jet. It was developed by the South Korean company KAI in conjunction with the American company Lockheed Martin. The program was financed 17% by KAI, 13% by Lockheed Martin and 70% by the South Korean government. Series production of the aircraft began in 2003.
