Sierra Nevada will help Bell Textron Develop HSVTOL Hybrid Jet Fighter
The U.S. aerospace company Sierra Nevada announced a collaboration with American manufacturer Bell Textron. The purpose of the joint work is to create a hybrid jet fighter HSVTOL.
Here's What We Know
Bell Textron introduced the HSVTOL - High-Speed Vertical Takeoff and Landing - concept last year. The company wants to develop a hybrid jet with the speed of a fighter jet and the ability to hover in the air like a convertible. The aircraft will use a jet engine to fly, and for takeoff and landing will use rotary propellers mounted on the ends of the wings.
The experience of the American company Sierra Nevada will help in software development for HSVTOL. In particular, the question is about the creation of mission control systems for different modifications of the future aircraft.
The technology of High-Speed Vertical Takeoff and Landing will allow Bell Textron to create the line of aircrafts weighing from 1800 to 45 000 kg. Their maximum speed can reach over 740 km/h.
