Kongsberg and Hanwha adapt NSM anti-ship cruise missile for launch from South Korea's K239 Chunmoo multiple launch rocket system

The Norwegian company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace and South Korean Hanwha Techwin announced cooperation to adapt the NSM missile for launch from the K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher.

Here's What We Know

The K239 Chunmoo is a new South Korean MLRS. It was adopted into service in 2015. The rocket system can use 227 mm GMLRS projectiles, compatible with M142 HIMARS and M270 MLRS. The K239 Chunmoo also allows the use of 130mm K136 Kooryong rockets and 239mm GPS-guided missiles with a maximum launch range of 85km.

The Norwegian Naval Strike Missile is an anti-ship cruise missile with a range of 185 km. The weight of the warhead is 120 kg and total mass is 400 kg. The TRI-40 turbojet-powered missile flies at subsonic speed and can destroy both surface and above-ground objects.
