Norway is ready to allocate $1.8 billion for the purchase of modern tanks - the choice between the Leopard 2A7 and K2 Black Panther
The Norwegian Armed Forces are planning to abandon Leopard tanks in a special upgrade of the 2A4NO.
Here's What We Know
Now Norway has 42 Leopard 2A4NO fighting vehicles. Information about how many tanks the Scandinavian country is ready to buy is still unknown. But there is information that Norway is ready to allocate $1.8 billion for the purchase of modern combat vehicles, infrastructure training, and personnel training.
44 Leopard 2A4NO tanks were purchased in 2001 from the Netherlands. Now only 36 tanks are in service, while the rest remain in reserve. The main alternatives to replace the Leopard 2A4NO are two tanks: the German Leopard 2A7 and the South Korean K2 Black Panther.
Both combat vehicles have already visited Norway for field trials. The winner will be known very soon. Norway wants to sign the contract by the end of 2022.
