UAE deploys Israeli Barak air defense system for the first time
The United Arab Emirates has deployed the Barak air defense system, which was purchased from Israel.
Here's What We Know
Barak will strengthen the UAE's defense against Iranian-made missiles and kamikaze drones, which are used by the Hussites to destroy the country's critical infrastructure. The developer of the air defense system is Israel Aerospace Industries.
The United Arab Emirates has not yet specified which version of Barak it received. There are three versions of the system: medium, long and extended range.
The first two versions of Barak can intercept aircraft, low-flying anti-ship and cruise missiles up to 35 and 70 kilometers respectively. The extended range version is designed to destroy air targets at a range of up to 150 km. For this purpose, the anti-missile is equipped with an additional booster.
